Job Details

The Bid Manager will fully manage the bids and tenders process. This will include planning, co-ordinating and delivering against key growth targets and Support Strategy. The Bid Manager will optimise the department`s growth potential and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify on-going contract/tender opportunities (via e-procurement sites and through developing a thorough awareness of the market)
  • To understand the breadth of the business to identify relevant opportunities and ensure that bids reflect best practice
  • To summarise contract/tender opportunities for the senior management team and facilitate timely yes/no bid decisions by the senior management team
  • To manage and have oversight of the entire tender process from inception to submission, alongside external bid writers and the Business Development Administrator
  • To contribute to the writing of bids alongside external bid writers, ensuring all bids are reviewed and signed off prior to submission
  • To participate and contribute to tender cost modelling alongside finance and operational colleagues
  • To complete and submit PAP (Project Approval Process) inline with organisational procedure before submitting tenders reaching the PAP threshold
  • To ensure the timely submission of high quality, well-written and well-presented tenders
  • To attend tender meetings as/when required and maximise opportunity to network with industry professionals
  • To review bid submissions, ensuring feedback and learning is fed into future tenders
  • To develop positive working relationships with fellow colleagues and external customers
About you
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Significant experience in a bid-writing environment
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships
  • The ability to commercially review and analyse complex contract and tender documentation
  • The ability to work proactively to plan, organise and use resources effectively
  • The ability to work well to pre-set deadlines and within agreed timescales
  • Prepare monthly reports and an annual review of business development activity
