Job Description
Sheridan Maine is advertising on behalf of a growing accountancy practice to recruit an Audit and Accounts Senior. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified audit professional to join a supportive and values-led team, delivering statutory audit and accounts preparation services across both commercial and Charity/Not-for-Profit clients.
The role provides a balanced workload of approximately 50% audit and 50% accounts, giving exposure to a diverse range of client types including Limited Companies, groups, sole traders, partnerships, and charities.
Key responsibilities of the Audit and Accounts Senior include:
- Managing and delivering audit and accounts assignments for Charity/Not-for-Profit clients as well as commercial entities.
- Preparing draft corporation tax and business tax computations, including supporting analysis.
- Planning audit assignments, including budgeting and use of analytical review techniques.
- Leading and assisting on audit assignments.
- Supervising, delegating, and reviewing the work of junior team members.
- Delivering timely and effective communication to clients.
- Assisting Managers and Partners on ad-hoc project work.
- ACA or ACCA qualified/part-qualified (or equivalent experience) with at least 3 years’ practice experience.
- Experience in, or willingness to work in, the Charity/Not-for-Profit sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards and International Standards for Auditing.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Experience leading or assisting audits, including planning, preparation, and completion (training can be provided).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness and ability to build client relationships.
- Good experience using bookkeeping software, including cloud-based platforms such as Sage, QuickBooks, and Xero. Experience with IRIS and MyWorkPapers is desirable but not essential.
- Competitive salary: £35,000 – £50,000 FTE depending on experience and qualifications.
