Job Description

We are partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit an Income & Credit Control Officer to join their team, intially on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers flexible working, including remote and hybrid options, with occasional visits to the Somerset office during the month, so candidates should be based within a commutable distance.
 
The Role
You will play a key role in ensuring all income is accurately processed, allocated, and reconciled across financial systems. You will support credit control activities, resolve allocation queries, and help maintain high standards of financial accuracy and customer service.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately processing and allocating all incoming payments, including cash and bank receipts
  • Raising, issuing, and reconciling sales ledger and debtor invoices
  • Managing customer accounts, including set-up, amendments, and ongoing maintenance
  • Reconciling bank transactions, suspense accounts, and system postings
  • Investigating and resolving allocation discrepancies and unposted items
  • Supporting debt recovery activities, including credit control, reminders, and customer contact
  • Administering direct debits, including set-up, collection, and correction of rejections
  • Responding to queries via phone, email, and correspondence
  • Supporting ad-hoc finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives
 
About You
You’ll be an organised and proactive finance professional with strong attention to detail and the confidence to manage a varied workload.
 
Essential skills & experience:
  • Experience in a transactional finance, accounts, or income processing environment
  • Confident user of finance systems with the ability to adapt quickly to new platforms
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and CRM systems
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and reconciliation skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage deadlines and remain accurate under pressure
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
