Job Description

Sheridan Maine is recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a high-performing finance team where you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping the numbers accurate, meaningful, and delivered on time. You’ll rotate through a broad mix of management and financial reporting tasks, giving you the exposure you need to keep progressing.
 
This is a role that gives you plenty of scope to learn, contribute, and build strong foundations in both financial and management accounting.
 
This role offers remote / hybrid working, but to ensure smooth collaboration with the team and regular on-site requirements, applicants must be based in Dorset or Hampshire.
 
What you’ll be doing
You’ll become a key player in the day-to-day financial reporting for a company, group, or division, your responsibilities will include:
 
  • Supporting the month-end process and helping create clear, reliable management accounts
  • Playing a role in the annual statutory accounts process
  • Assisting with budgets, forecasts, and providing financial insight to budget holders
  • Making sure financial information meets the right accounting standards
  • Delivering reports for the wider team
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring they’re watertight
  • Posting journals accurately, including accruals and prepayments
  • Producing ad-hoc analysis and helping explain variances
  • Highlighting where processes could be sharper, simpler or more efficient
  • Supporting external reporting when required
 
Who we’re looking for
  • An AAT studier looking to take the next step
  • A part-qualified accountant with experience in a similar role
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence with IT
  • The ability to interpret and present financial information clearly
  • Great attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines
