Sheridan Maine are delighted to be looking for a Finance Assistant in South West London on a fixed term basis. This role is key to ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. You’ll be working closely with other departments and helping maintain reliable financial records through reconciliations, invoice processing, and staff expense management. You’ll also support the accounts payable process and assist during peak periods, audits, and special projects.
 
Key responsibilities of the Finance Assistant will be:
  • Process staff expenses, credit card claims, and cash advances accurately.
  • Check that all claims are properly approved.
  • File and store receipts safely until a digital solution is available.
  • Process daily bank transactions and match them correctly in the system.
  • Record reconciliations and get manager approval before posting to accounts.
  • Ensure bank accounts reconcile accurately with no errors.
  • Investigate and clear any unidentified transactions.
  • Perform month-end account reconciliations, with supporting bank evidence.
  • Check and post travel invoices on time for month-end reporting.
  • Help enter invoices and prepare payment batches when needed.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed.
  • Support the finance team during audits, peak periods, and critical deadlines.
 
The successful Finance Assistant will require:
  • Strong experience handling high volumes of transactions.
  • Skilled in credit card and bank reconciliations.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Able to work in a busy environment and adapt to change.
  • Self-starter with a team-focused attitude.
  • Well-organised with good time management.
  • Proactive problem solver.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains (essential)
