Sheridan Maine recruiting for a skilled and commercially minded Tax Manager to join a growing business based in Essex. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you’ll take full ownership of the group’s tax affairs — including compliance, advisory, and planning — while supporting strategic business decisions through expert tax insight.

Whether you're stepping up into your first managerial role or already managing tax functions, this position offers the autonomy, support, and visibility to truly make an impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of corporate tax compliance across the group.
  • Prepare and review corporation tax returns and liaise with HMRC.
  • Lead on VAT, PAYE, and indirect tax matters.
  • Provide tax advice on new projects, business structuring, and transactions.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess business impact.
  • Work with external advisors and auditors as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Support training and development within the wider finance team.

What We’re Looking For:
  • CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  • Strong UK tax compliance and advisory experience, ideally in an in-house or practice setting.
  • Excellent technical knowledge, especially around corporate tax and VAT.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with commercial awareness.
  • Experience using tax or accounting software (e.g. Alphatax, Sage, etc.).
