“Only Accountants can save the world through peace, goodwill and reconciliations.” Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting a Cashier for our esteemed Portsmouth-based client. We are seeking an experienced professional with a proven background in legal cashiering to join the team and provide critical support to the CFO. This role will primarily involve overseeing the Client Account Team, managing client and Office Account functions, and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial procedures.
Responsibilities of the successful Cashier will include:
Oversee the Client Account Team, ensuring smooth and compliant operations.
Manage and maintain both client and office accounts in line with regulatory standards.
Handle daily cashiering tasks, including bank reconciliations, payments, and transfers.
Support the CFO and other senior finance staff with additional accounting and financial reporting as required.
Processing weekly payment runs.
Dealing with queries from fee earners and support staff.
Completing VAT returns.
Assist with month-end and year-end processes.
The successful Cashier will require:
Proven experience in a legal cashiering role.
Strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and relevant regulations.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
