Our client is seeking a Reporting Accountant to join their team in Birmingham. This role involves identifying issues, needs, and opportunities for improvement, supporting changes, and acting as a liaison between various business areas to ensure smooth transitions.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience with variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and a background in the manufacturing/distribution sector.

Your responsibilities as the Reporting Accountant will include:

  • Prepare monthly reports from the trial balance (Income Statement, Balance Sheet)
  • Analyse order intake trends
  • Conduct sales and margin analysis
  • Perform variance analysis (Sales, Expenses, vs. Prior Year, Budget) and discuss with cost centre holders
  • Analyse stock (Obsolete, WIP)
  • Provide month-end stock reports to Finance, including stock adjustment analysis per Group and Statutory guidelines
  • Support and cover for the Finance Manager and Assistant Accountant as needed
  • Assist with external audits (Financial, Quality, Customer)
  • Help managers and employees retrieve and understand available information and provide additional requested details
  • Continuously cleanse data
  • Support business forecasting and budget variance analysis
  • Identify and investigate areas for improving profitability
 
The successful Reporting Accountant will require the following skills and experience:
  • Experience with variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations is required
  • Proficiency in MS Excel is essential for analysis tasks
  • Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment is necessary
  • A higher education qualification in Business or Accounting is preferred
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
