Sheridan Maine are working in collaboration with a leading Engineering organisation based on the South Coast near Poole, Dorset. Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Project Accountant to support the business for a 12 month period, which could lead to a permanent opportunity.
This is a key role within their Finance team and will provide the business with the support and guidance to plan, predict and present periodic project and financial performance to the business.
As Interim Project Accountant your key responsibilities will be:
Work closely with budget holders and assist them in key decision making, providing guidance and advice on finance related issues
Setting approved project financial performance targets to maintain integrity and controls of project accounting
Maintenance of Project, Contract and cost data and preparation and control of contract related Sales Invoices
Delivery of accurate, timely results for periodic orders, revenue and profit trading
Adoption of appropriate revenue recognition policies associated with long-term contracts
Support bid phase reviews, providing advice on rates and profit application, cash-flow and financing costs
Preparation of general ledger journals for the monthly accounts; including maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and key cost accruals records
Assist in the valuation and control of Assets, Stock and Work in Progress
Assist in provision of periodic reporting to present key financial and operational performance to the Senior Leadership Team
Skills and experiences required:
Calculation and interpretation of relevant financial KPI’s and ERP Systems experience
Ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
Confidence to challenge and willingness to adapt
Developing relationships and processes to drive performance Behavioural requirements
Ability to work unsupervised, under own initiative with the drive to influence and improve project reporting and performance
Able to present and communicate financial information
Ability to work in a team and to develop an empathy with colleagues, understanding their roles and priorities
Key information: The successful candidate must be able to achieve full SC (Security Clearance) and hold a British Passport.
