Sheridan Maine is pleased to represent a rapidly expanding and an award-winning organisation.  With a commitment to innovation and excellence, our client has experienced significant growth and is now seeking a talented individual to join their dynamic finance team as Assistant Accountant.
 
Position Overview:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance function, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to become an integral part of a thriving team.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of management accounts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports and present findings to the directors.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Play a key role in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Manage sales and purchase ledgers effectively.
  • Handle accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Oversee payroll for staff members.
  • Set up and verification of new subcontractors
  • Inputting data through COINS system monthly.
  • Raising manual payments (BACS, CHAPS) as required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Responsible for CIS tax deductions, their calculation and back up documentation.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
 
To be considered for the role of Assistant Accountant, you will require:
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software Xero Accounting is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
