We're excited to announce that Sheridan Maine is partnering with an engineering company to recruit an Accounts Payable Assistant for their Bath-based team. This presents an excellent opportunity with study support available and various other benefits.
 
As part of the Central Finance Accounts Payable team, you will play a key role in efficiently processing and approving supplier invoices and employee expenses. Additionally, you will be responsible for regular month-end tasks.
 
Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Assistant include:

  • Setting up new supplier accounts
  • Recording incoming supplier invoices
  • Ensuring timely approval of invoices by the appropriate team
  • Managing travel invoices from the travel provider
  • Processing employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with the expenses policy
  • Initiating payments for suppliers and employee expenses through the online banking system
  • Addressing internal and external queries via email and phone
  • Conducting reconciliations of supplier statements
  • Recording direct debit and standing order transactions
  • Managing credit card expenses and processing cash receipts in the bank
  • Verifying and recording petty cash and restaurant takings
  • Executing month-end close processes
  • Undertaking any other necessary accounts payable tasks.

The successful Accounts Payable Assistant will require the following knowledge and experience:
  • Preferably pursuing or having completed AAT certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a requirement
  • Essential to be a team player and comfortable working in a dynamic team
  • Enthusiastic about learning and adapting to new processes
  • Desirable to have experience in an accounts payable or similar transactional team
  • Basic understanding of VAT is desirable
  • Experience with Unit 4 Business World / Agresso is desirable
  • Familiarity with a Purchase Order system is desirable
