Sheridan Maine are working with a forward-thinking, innovative growing business based in Southampton. My client is looking for a capable, tenacious individual to join their small and friendly finance and administration department to oversee and manage Credit Control.

Due to company growth, there is an opening for a Credit Controller to hit the floor running and help in creating a new Credit Control function. This is a newly created role with the opportunity to build from the ground up, creating new processes and procedures along the way.  
 
You will be working within a fast-paced environment managing the ledger, so you will need to be target-driven and highly organised. Through a methodical approach, you will work through the sales ledger consistently and keep meticulous records of all calls and promises made.

The ideal candidate for this position will have gained exposure working in the construction or manufacturing industry. Experience working with XERO will be advantageous when applying for this role.

Responsibilities of the Credit Controller will include:

  • Following up with customers for settlement of their debt by telephone, letter, and email
  • Posting and allocating receipts to the relevant customer accounts daily
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to deal with customer queries quickly and accurately
  • Maintaining and updating customer master files to ensure consistent and accurate customer information
  • Raising credit notes and general administration
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer queries and complaints
 
The successful candidate will need the following attributes:
  • Previous experience as Credit Controller with a medium-sized business
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen for problem-solving
  • Natural rapport and relationship-building qualities
  • Team player and able to work on your own initiative
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
  • Good eye for detail
  • High level of IT Literacy
