Recruiting exclusively through Sheridan Maine, our client is a leading, privately owned and very well established business. Who have a fantastic and unique opportunity for a experienced Accounts Assistant to join the business based from their offices, in North Dorset.

Reporting into the Management Accountant and supporting the wider finance team with all aspects within finance, this fantastic newly created opportunity will offer you the opportunity to work in a diverse and broad role gaining sound insight and experience to further develop your career. 

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Assisting with month end close and the preparation of the monthly management accounts including, balance sheet reconciliations and calculating and posting journals
  • Full ownership of accounting for fixed assets, prepayments and accruals
  • Overseeing all company’s inter-company accounts and ensuring they are reconciled
  • Implementing process improvements, investigating and resolving variances and enhancing controls
  • Producing profit and loss reports and creation of profit and loss analytic's
  • Organisation and creation of all process notes relevant to the finance function
  • Assist with the input for budgeting and forecasting
  • Assist with the year-end admin and information required by the Auditors
  • Assist with the creation and improvement of all finance KPI’s
  • VAT returns documentation preparation
  • Process of expenses, mileage and company credit cards
  • Cover for accounts receivable and accounts payable staff
  • Invoice management, reporting, data entry, filing & scanning
Experience and Skills required:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience within a finance environment is essential
  • Ideally studying AAT and qualified to Level 4 or equivalent  
  • You will have the ability to work to tight deadlines, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, with an ability to understand how the detail fits into the wider picture
  • Proven track record in bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficient with excellent communication skills
