Sheridan Maine are supporting our client with the recruitment of a Qualified Senior Accountant to join their business.  This role will be reporting directly to the Managing Director and as the Senior Accountant it will play a pivotal role, supporting predominately with Business As Usual, projects and value-add activities for the clients based out of their Poole office.
 
Working mainly from the Poole office, the primary focus of this role will be liaising with clients to provide guidance on cashflow, preparation of accounts and management accounts. You will be maintaining and growing strong working relationships with clients over telephone, video call, email and attending client meetings in person. You will be responsible to support the bookkeepers with approvals for payroll, pension submissions, VAT returns and general queries as and when required.  Occasionally you will be required to (remotely) support and assist the team in their Hampshire site, in addition to taking on ad-hoc client work and queries on behalf of the Managing Director.
 
Given the broad range of responsibilities, your working day will be incredibly varied and will include these key duties:

  • Management of the small Bookkeeping Team
  • Preparation of Statutory Accounts
  • Preparation of Management Accounts
  • Self-assessment tax returns
  • Corporate Tax Returns
  • Regularly support and review client portfolio's across the business
  • Review processes and procedures, actively seeking ways to improve workflow efficiency's
  • Various project work as required
Skills and experience required:
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or Equivalent 
  • Proven experience using Xero
  • Proven experience using Digita (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ideally previous experience of working within a cloud focused Accountancy firm
