My client is a leading European plc trading company with international offices and services spanning across 70 countries. They offer a diverse range of goods and commodities whilst act as an intermediary for financing, logistics and risk management.

They are currently looking for a Finance Manager to join their London office, working for the renewable energy investment arm of the business.
 
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA etc.) with a good technical accounting knowledge of IFRS. The role will require the candidate to perform regular periodic reporting (quarterly management accounts etc.) but also review the work of two junior colleagues. In addition, the candidate will be required to provide adhoc support to the business development team

Duties:

• Management and development of two accounting assistants, answering queries and providing guidance as necessary
• Preparation and/or review of management accounts and statutory accounts
• Preparation and/ or review of: VAT returns, corporation tax computations and corporation tax POA (Payment on Account) calculations
• Preparation and/or review of quarterly financial report for submission to head office
• Preparation and/or review of forecasts and budgets
• Advise, prepare and manage project accounts
• Review of the outputs of accounting assistants, including (but not limited to): management accounts, bank reconciliations, monthly cash flows, VAT returns, corporation tax computations etc
• Management of adhoc tax related matters
• Managing external advisors for specialist tax and accounting advice (including defining scope, negotiating engagement letters, overseeing delivery, etc.)
• Overview of year end audit process, answering audit related queries and preparing memos to justify accounting treatment as required
• Assisting business development with adhoc requests e.g. providing guidance on accounting treatment for financial models, reviewing financial model logic etc

• Fully ACA/ACCA qualified
• Experienced in the preparation of management accounts (IFRS, UK GAAP)
• Interpretation and application of accounting standards (IFRS)
• Strong tax knowledge (VAT, Corporation Tax etc.)
• Strong MS Excel skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence with empathy in a multicultural work environment
• Team player and someone who is hands on
