Sheridan Maine are currently recruiting on an exclusive basis for an Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join an exciting and rapidly expanding business based in Portsmouth. This is an exciting and newly created role which will cover a mixture of transactional accounting and assist the Finance Controller with the month end process.
Working as part of a friendly team, in a dynamic environment, you will initially be responsible for the following with a view develop as the business grows:
- Checking and posting purchase ledger invoices
- Reconciling supplier statements and dealing with any queries
- Setting up new suppliers
- Posting payments
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing the VAT returns for approval
- Assisting with the month end process
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar role and be studying towards the AAT qualification, with the desire to study and progress further.
