Purpose of the role

A fixed term role has arisen due to maternity leave within the Finance team for a Management Accountant to produce and manage accounts relating to a portfolio of UK companies owned and managed by Lightsource BP
Duties and responsibilities
(Outline the main daily duties, tasks and responsibilities of the position)
·       Management Accounts
o    Working in a team responsible for the production of monthly management accounts relating to the portfolio
o    Work on projects within the operational phase of their lifecycle
o    Ensure all underlying accounting records are maintained in accordance with best practice
o    Work closely with our internal business partners to ensure all relevant information requests are delivered accurately and within agreed timescales.
 
·       Management Information
o    Produce comprehensive financial and commercial information in a timely manner
o    Producing a detailed monthly management accounts report and commentary
o    Prepare all analysis required together with comparatives to budgets / forecasts
o    Continually evaluate and evolve procedures and controls to ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently
o    Provide information to support the bank debt servicing reporting requirements
 
·       Budgeting & Forecasting
o    Work with other members of the finance team to ensure accurate budgets are produced and maintained at all levels of the portfolio.
o    Monthly delivery of P&L and cashflow forecasting on a rolling 18 month cycle.
 
·       VAT, EC Sales List and Intrastats
o    Assist with the completion and submission of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and Intrastats by the required date and ensure any payments are made on time
o    Ensure processes are in place and adhered to in order to capture accurately all data required to complete VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and Intrastats
o    Register new companies for VAT
 
·       Statutory Accounts and Audit
o    Working with the outsource provider in the preparation of year end statutory accounts for the SPVs
o    Assist with the preparation of all schedules and supporting information required for the audit of the year end statutory accounts and the preparation of corporation tax computations
o    Liaise with the external auditors as required
 
·       General day to day activity
o    Take a hands on approach where required, processing entries for all ledgers as necessary
o    Preparation of monthly accounts pack in line with agreed deadlines
o    Liaising with other members of wider finance team 
 
·       Ad hoc
o    As this role sits in wider finance team, where capacity allows, this role may include aspects of other portfolios or exposure to other parts of Group.
PERSONAL SKILLS
 
Knowledge
(Indicate what knowledge is required to do the job – do you require an understanding of a defined system, practice, method or procedure)
·       Technically up to date with a good understanding of UK reporting standards
·       Ability to produce management accounts and analysis
·       Experience of accounts consolidation desirable
·       Good understanding of VAT
 
Work Skills
(Indicate what skills specific to the job are required – language, driving license etc)
·       The ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment interfacing with internal teams and external clients.
·       Experience of Renewable Energy projects and SPV accounting desirable
·       Experience of SUN systems desirable
·       Demonstrate excellent MS Excel skills
