Christian Furness is Operations Director at Sheridan Maine and brings almost 30 years’ experience in finance and accountancy recruitment to the business.

Having spent much of his career working directly within the recruitment market, Christian combines first-hand understanding of clients, candidates and consultants with responsibility for the systems, technology, processes and training that underpin Sheridan Maine’s recruitment delivery.

His role is central to ensuring Sheridan Maine can provide clients with a genuinely flexible range of recruitment solutions - from contingency recruitment and interim hiring through to targeted, retained and executive search.

Rather than treating each recruitment methodology as a separate service, Christian helps ensure Sheridan Maine’s consultants have the technology, market intelligence, training and operational support required to determine the most effective way of solving each client’s hiring challenge. That may mean moving quickly through the active candidate market, identifying specialist interim expertise, or proactively mapping and approaching individuals who are not actively looking for a new role.

With a sharp eye for process, technology and data, Christian has embraced the latest recruitment technology to improve candidate identification, market mapping, communication and management information. The objective is simple: give Sheridan Maine’s consultants more time to consult, build relationships and recruit, while technology handles as much of the administration as possible.

Christian has also transformed reporting from a separate administrative exercise into part of everyday recruitment activity, providing real-time insight into markets, performance and recruitment campaigns without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Training is another major part of his role. Drawing on decades of recruitment experience, Christian has developed Sheridan Maine’s consultant training programme around practical recruitment skills, behavioural coaching, technology, candidate engagement, business development and the different disciplines required to deliver successful contingency, search and interim assignments.

As Sheridan Maine continues to expand its capabilities, Christian’s focus is on ensuring the infrastructure behind the business remains robust, efficient and scalable - while retaining the personal, specialist and relationship-led approach upon which Sheridan Maine has built its reputation.

Ultimately, his role is to make it easier for Sheridan Maine’s consultants to do what they do best: understand a client’s problem, identify the right recruitment solution and find exceptional accounting, finance, audit and tax professionals to solve it.
