Birmingham Post Corporate Pairs Challenge 12.05.2017
It may not have been bright sunshine for the whole day but our 72 golfers enjoyed a fantastic golf day at Blackwell Golf Club.
Having arrived at the exclusive club at 12noon for registration, bacon rolls and coffee, the 72 players, all made up of directors from businesses in and around the West Midlands grouped together to have their team picture in Birmingham Post and Sheridan Maine blue t-shirts before they dispersed into their 4-balls and started their 18 holes of better ball pairs stableford scoring.
To help them along the way, all players were given a goodie bag consisting of Sheridan Maine golf tees, ball markers and golf pencils, a branded mug and pen, along with a United Airlines water bottle and a bit of sustenance for the round consisting of a chocolate bar and a drink.
For the most part, the day was dry but it wasn't a complete round for the fair-weather player. Rain fell slightly during the latter part of the afternoon but that did not stop the players making the most of playing on the stunning course.
As usual, there were various prizes to be won around the course including longest drive and nearest the pin. The hole-in-one competition on the 9th was stepped up this year with the addition of Signature Hole Experience. On arrival at the 9th tee, players registered their email address and their complete shot was filmed from the tee, from the green and from the hole. The technology tracks your shot and also tells you details on the shot.
As our golfers made their way back to the clubhouse once they had completed their round, the hole-in-one films were being played on a loop and it is fair to say that they provided entertainment for all to see!
Evening dinner proceedings were opened by Craig Cooksley (Birmingham Post) and Jamie Rodden (MD - Sheridan Maine) before they introduced Rachel Ollerenshaw from the selected charity "Molly Olly's Wishes" to say a few words. The chosen charity for this year grants wishes for terminally ill children - here's more details on their fantastic work.
Winners were then announced with Adler Financial Planning scooping the fantastic top prize of 2 return tickets to New York, courtesy of United Airlines. Following auction prizes, the evening raised £ 3,000 in total for the charity.
Again it was a fantastic event and one that Sheridan Maine were very proud to be a part of. If you are a keen golfer and wish to be considered for invitation to future Golf events, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your details
