Tax Manager

£80000 per annum
My client, based in Central london, has grown to become the UK's leading purchaser of energy generated by the independent sector. They focus primarily, though not exclusively on renewable energy, and are ambitious and looking to continue their programme of expansion. They are currently looking to hire a Tax Manager

The role: The principal role of the Tax Manager is to risk manage the company's exposure to all government taxes and levies, whilst, ensuring they are fully compliant in all areas, at the same time as fully utilising all exemptions and allowances.


• Be Centre of Excellence within the company for all taxes and levies.

• Be able to articulate complex tax risks to both finance and non-finance at all levels within the business and Owning company.

• Ability to identify and mitigate tax risk escalating any relevant issues to Senior Management and the SAO advising on the appropriate course of action.

• Ensure annual SAO Certificates are submitted to HMRC on time.

• To prepare the company's draft and final Corporation tax (CT) computations and manage payment-on-accounts of any CT due based on the estimated annual CT liability for review by external advisor.

• To proactively manage the company's processes & systems requirements to ensure full compliance with government legislation for all tax and levy obligations.

• To review and submit quarterly VAT Returns and manage both monthly payments-on-account and quarterly payments when due.

• To review and submit quarterly CCL Returns and manage the payment/refund of any CCL due, plus notifications of exempt supplies being made and checking the documentation held meet HMRC requirements.

• To manage quarterly FiT Levelisation submissions to Ofgem and manage the payment/refund of any FiT due

• To manage the overall RO & LEC submissions including the averaging calculation.

The candidate:

• Deep knowledge of UK VAT, CCL and Corporation Tax

• Good understanding of employment taxes: PAYE, NI, PSA, P11D etc

• Understanding of energy industry levies: LECs, REGOs, ROCs

• Understanding of the SAO requirements

• Broad understanding of EU Indirect taxes

• Any recognised UK professional taxation qualification - probably The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CoIT).

This role would suit someone who has a hands on approach and able to work in a stand alone role.
